2012-13 Regional P7 Tag Rugby Tournament

Wednesday 5th June saw the annual Regional P7 tag rugby tournament take place at Meadowmill

After having to postpone the event twice during the season due to weather. It was well worth the wait and the weather finally obliged with great playing conditions on the day.

14 Primary 7 teams took part and the standard of play was very high throughout the tournament. A big emphasis is given to sportsmanship and the way in which the children conduct themselves during the games. There was clearly evidence of this when teams were shaking hands after matches and encouraging their own team mates as well as the opposition.

After some very competitive group matches, the teams progressed to the play-off matches with Prestonpans Primary 1 and 2 contesting for the top three places with Gullane Primary 1. Gullane Primary SchoolThere were only one or two tries in it as Prestonpans 1 ran out eventual winners.  Gullane 1 finished second and Prestonpans 2 finished third. It was the third year in a row that Prestonpans have won the tournament and their victory was thoroughly deserved.

Gullane Primary team were awarded the ‘Fair Play’ trophy for the exemplary sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament.
