Dunbar Primary Schools Festival is a Roaring Success

Active Schools hosts its first ever Primary football festival in Dunbar

Dunbar Active Schools hosted its first ever Primary Schools Football festival. Dunbar (P7), West Barns (P4-7) and East Linton (P5-7) came along to the festival on Thursday 29th October at Hallhill 3G. Over 50 children participated in the evening which turned out to be a huge success. It was great to see children from different schools interact with each other.

The biggest ovation on the evening was West Barns who won their first ever match and it sparked wild scenes. East Lothian Football Development Officer Sean McAuley was down watching the tournament and was hugely impressed with the children attitude to play football in the right manner.

3 Dunbar Grammar School senior students came down and refereed all the games during the festival. It was their first time ever refereeing and they were a credit to themselves and to Dunbar Grammar.

A big thank you must go to the Teachers, Mr Mackenzie, Miss Hay and Mr Mells who brought the teams along from each school. Credit must go to the children as they represented their school brilliant not only through their skills but also the way they behaved.

We will be looking to run more festivals throughout the school calendar year.
