East Lothian Rugby Players Stepping Up

East Lothian Rugby Players Announced in New Scottish Rugby BT Regional Academy Intake for 2017-2018 Season

Academy intake

Scottish Rugby recently announced the latest intake for the four BT Regional Academies across Scotland and it is great to see the young talented rugby players from East Lothian progressing through the academy system. There are many volunteers in our East Lothian clubs and schools that contribute to their development and it’s a credit to the good rugby people in the county who give so much to rugby when these players progress onto higher honours. Our PAIS Rugby Programme really encourages the athletes to have a long-term focus of reaching their full potential as players long after they leave our programme. The Scottish Rugby Academy system in its current form is starting to bear fruit and it’s exciting to see so many young rugby players getting the extra support to reach their full potential.

Ex Pais Rugby Athletes included in the recent intake include:

Rory Darge: Just finished school at North Berwick HS and played Scotland U18’s last season with another year at U18’s. He is in the BT Regional Academy for Borders/East Lothian.

Cammy Hutchison: Ex Pais athlete from North Berwick that’s played Scotland U18’s and U20’s (2017 Six Nations) and has another year at U20’s. He is in the Edinburgh BT Regional Academy.

Finn Hobbis: Ex Pais athlete from North Berwick that’s played Scotland U19’s and has another year at U20’s.

Current Pais athletes included in the Borders / East Lothian BT Regional Academy include:

Roan Frostwick: Played Scotland U18’s last season and is in his final year of school at North Berwick HS with another year at U18’s.

Scott King: Just played Scotland U16’s last season and is currently at Preston Lodge HS.

The Pais programme is aligned very closely to the Borders / East Lothian BT Academy so the school aged academy supported athletes in East Lothian are doing the Pais programme sessions on a weekly basis. We give extra support to pre-academy athletes as part of their development on the Pais programme and have some excellent young players developing their skill set with an eye on future Regional Academy opportunities.
