Great start to the season for young cricketers

The East Lothian County u11 team have made a great start to the season with not only two wins, but also introducing a number of completely new players to the game!

cricket EL County u11 May 2016

After beating Stew Mel away last week with one player brand new to the game, this week two new players made their debut and you can read how that went in below match report from one of the coaches:

Livingston batted first and got 221-8. Some super bowling from ELCC meant that 7 of our wickets were bowled out with direct hits on stumps against a good looking batting team with some solid technique.

3 wickets for Ella (captain for the night), two each for Harry and Angus and a caught and bowled for Jason in his first ever cricket match.

Fielding was strong and the team kept their eye on the job, despite the temperature dropping towards the end of our fielding stint. Wicket keeping duties were shared between Angus and Aaron.

Batting started slow and steady and then built up towards the end of the innings. Bruce and then Aaron partnered up with their friends (and another pair of brothers)  Struan and Jason respectively, to help them bat in their first ever match. Both pairs did well and at the halfway stage of the innings we were 217-2

Next up was the batting powerhouse pair of Molly and Harry, and they delivered with 31 runs and no wickets off their four overs. Great running, selective shot making and some lusty blows towards the end of their partnership.

Last up were Angus and Ella and they saw the team home. Despite some at times risky running, they put on 21 runs with Angus hitting the only six of the match over deep backward square leg.

A great win and some lovely team play and sporting spirit shown by two good teams.

We look forward to playing Livingston again.
