Mid and East Lothian Secondary Schools Championships

Mid and East Lothian Secondary Schools Badminton Championships held on Tuesday 27th November at Meadowmill Sports Centre.

Over 80 pupils travelled from all over the county to compete in the Mid and East Lothian Secondary Schools Badminton Championships held on Tuesday 27^th November at Meadowmill Sports Centre.

All 6 Secondary Schools from East Lothian and three schools from Midlothian had players representing their school at this event.

East Lothian Schools dominated the tournament with Lois Turnbull from North Berwick High winning a treble - two U14 titles in girls’ singles and girl’s doubles with partner Jess Rae with her third title came in the U16 mixed doubles with John Arbuckle.

It was also an amazing feat for the Campbell brothers form Dunbar Grammar School winning all three Boys singles titles with Euan Campbell taking the U14 title, Alastair Campbell U16 and Lewis Campbell the U19 age group.

Following this event selection will now take place for pupils to represent Mid & East Lothian Schools at the Scottish Schools National Championships which will be held on the 12^th and 13^th March at Bells Sport Centre, Perth.

East Lothian Badminton Development Officer Christie Black would like to thank all the Sports Co-ordinators, volunteers, coaches and parents who assisted and supported the tournament and to all the players who provided some excellent badminton throughout the day.
