North Berwick Rugby Coaches Becoming Students of the Game

North Berwick Rugby Coaches are currently completing their UKCC 1 coaching qualification.

North Berwick Coaching Course

A group of thirteen rugby coaches from North Berwick are currently going through their UKCC level 1 coaching accreditation through a locally run course at North Berwick Rugby Club. Most of the coaches are directly involved in coaching at the mini section of North Berwick Rugby club while four candidates on the course are senior pupils at the High School.  These senior pupils are already involved in coaching and helping out with the High school teams in some capacity.

The head of the mini section at North Berwick Rugby Club, Simon Glynn, has played a big role in helping set up the course locally to make it easier for the North Berwick coaches to complete the course. One of the senior pupils on the course, John Gardner, has learnt a lot already over the first two days of the course and is looking forward to the last day. He stated:

‘I have enjoyed the practical coaching sessions during the course which have helped me learn more about the coaching processes required to be an effective coach.’

The course consists of theory modules as well as outdoor practical sessions where each coach gets the chance to coach and practice their various coaching techniques. The UKCC level 1 course is specifically targeted at mini coaches and the courses are run by the Scottish Rugby all over the country. It is well recognised that the better our coaches are, the better the players will be that they produce. We hope to see some future stars coming out of North Berwick, produced by our new students of the game.
