Trophy resurrected after 20 years

For the first time in over 20 years Haddington Tennis Club saw a girls Under 14 tournament on its courts.

Haddington Tennis Club

For the first time in over twenty years, on Sunday, 11 June, Haddington Tennis Club (HTC) held a girls’ under-14, Yellow Ball Open Tournament. On our courts in Neilson Park. Conditions were blustery, which meant that a lob meant to land in one court generally fetched up in another, but the girls put to it with a will in a round robin competition and the result was very close.

Girls U14 tournament placingsRosie Sinnott, of North Berwick, won, whilst Holly Brown of Haddington was second and Emilie Stuart of Dunbar third. HTC’s thanks go to Lottie Longman for organising and running the competition, and providing the Chocolate Brownies! The club intends to arrange a similar tournament for boys sometime in September, provided there’s no frost.

It is the club’s plan to increase junior membership this year and has been running coaching programmes to achieve this. This follows last year’s successful expansion of the adult membership.

On Sunday afternoons we have time set aside for family play. Look at our website for coaching programmes for both juniors and adults.

https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/HaddingtonTennisClub  and plan to have your child enter for the next competition.

This dynamic new approach has been made possible by the new courts built in 2015 in Neilson Park, which are simply magnificent.
