Catriona Matthew pitches up at PAiS

Performance Athletes in Sports Golf Programme

LPGA Pro Catriona Matthew very kindly took time out of her schedule to visit our Golf Performance Athletes at Loretto Academy on Monday 26th February 2018.

Catriona is back in her home town of North Berwick for a short time having just returned from the ISPS Handa Women's Austrailian Open. She will be leaving again soon to compete in the next tournament on her schedule, the Bank of Hope Founders Cup in Pheonix.  The currenty chilly weather is not what she’s acclimitised to and like us all we were very grateful to be indoors at Loretto Golf Academy’s indoor practice facitlity.

Catriona is one of the most successful athletes Scotland has ever produced and is a fantastic ambassador for the sport and women’s sport. The PAiS athletes were very privileged to get some time with a world class golfer at an informal and relaxed practice session.   Catriona work with then all in pairs and took them on at a up and down worst ball challenge as well as a long putt sin bin!  The conversations and questions I overheard were all very insightful from what is her favourite course on her schedule this season to which her response was Lytham and what is her least favourite of the “best” courses … I won’t name and shame the course but she summarized saying that there are certain courses you want to like but you never play them well and you never like a course you don’t play well.

A huge thanks to Catriona for investing her time in our future golfers and we wish her all the best this season flying the flag for us all.
