East Lothian have recently held two rugby coaching course in East Lothian. The first course held was a UKCC level 2 course at Haddington RFC and was completed in August. The UKCC level 2 course is aimed at coaches of youth and adult rugby. The course takes place over 3 days and gives coaches the opportunity to coach each other and study various indoor modules relating to developing players. There is a focus on the Scottish Technical Blueprint on the course to develop the ability of coaches to apply it in their coaching setting. There has also been a UKCC Level 1 course run at Meadowmill recently, which targets coaches of mini rugby, which is primary aged rugby players. It was great to see some senior pupils on this course from local secondary schools. These senior pupils will be helping deliver to primary aged children in their local clusters to help grow the game and pass ion their knowledge and experience. Overall, there were around 20 coaches from within East Lothian taking part in these courses, which means we will have more qualified coaches delivering better quality session to the young rugby talent in East Lothian.

There is also an opportunity for primary teachers to attend a rugby coaching CPD session at Meadowmill on Friday 28th September at Meadowmill. Hopefully this will be well attended by primary teachers from across East Lothian.
