East Lothian Rugby Skills Camps Kick Off 2018

The East Lothian Falcons Rugby Skills Camps for U14’s and U15’s were held in Haddington in early January and were well attended by nominated players.

Jan Rugby Skills Camp

The East Lothian Falcons Skills camps were held at the 3G in Haddington, Whittinghame Drive on the 4th and 5th of January. We had around 40 players for both the U14 age group and the U15 age group with both groups training once on each day of the camp. This is the first time we have held camps over the Christmas break and it was a good chance for players to work off some of the festive food from Christmas. Using the 3G in Haddington worked out really, well allowing us to get some good quality training on a good quality pitch.

The standard in both groups was pleasing from a coaches point of view with big improvements shown from the Skills Camps hosted back in October. There were elements of individual skills where players worked in small groups followed by team games to work on the tactical aspects of different areas of the game. On the whole, considering the time of year, the coaches were very pleased with the effort and commitment of all the players at the camp.

The next Falcons U14 and U15 skills camp will take place on the 12th and 13th of February at Meadowmill. This will be followed by preparation of the U15 squad for fixtures with the Borders in March. I’m sure all the hard work will pay off with all the players currently training and playing at their schools as the second half of the season gets underway.
