Throughout March a huge number of gymnasts from East Lothian experienced great success at a number of events and competitions.
On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March, gymnasts from Saltire Team Gymnastics took part in the Northern Teamgym Qualifier. Over the weekend 8 teams from the club competed against teams from across the North of the UK in a battle for the top spots and for some teams to qualify for the British Teamgym Championships this summer in Liverpool.
In the various categories and age groups, the club had four teams in 1st place, one team in 3rd, one team place 4th, one team in 5th and one team place 7th, with three teams progressing to the British Championships.
The following weekend saw the Scottish Grades competition. Duo Gymnastics Club, East Lothian Gymnastics Academy and Meadowbank Gymnastics Club all had gymnasts competing. All gymnasts did amazingly well and came away with some fantastic scores and results.
Between the three clubs 4 gymnasts achieved passes, 14 received commended and 5 achieved distinctions! Great job everyone!
Sunday 13th March was also the East Lothian Gymnastics and Trampolining showcase, which saw over 400 participants from the recreational and competitive classes from with East Lothian take part. It was also the first time for gymnasts from many gymnasts from Dunbar and West Barns in gymnastics and trampolining.
The following weekend was also the Duo Gymnastics Club and Aubigny Sports Centre display. Everyone did a great job at showing off their skills to friends and family.
This weekend was also the turn of trampolining and DMT. City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club and Two Foot Higher were both in attendance at two events over the weekend with gymnasts ready to compete in both. Both events were qualifiers for gymnasts to be a part of the Scotland team for an upcoming competition in Birmingham.
Two Foot Higher had 3 gymnasts make the team for trampolining and a further two as reserves. The club also had 5 gymnasts make the team for the DMT competition. City of Edinburgh Trampline Club also had great success with 5 gymnasts medalling in the trampoline competition and 10 in the DMT competition and a total of 12 gymnasts moving forward to the Scotland team.
