New floodlights promise a bright future for tennis in Dunbar

Hard work pays off as the official switch on takes place

New floodlights promise a bright future for tennis in Dunbar

After a huge collective effort from various individuals & organisations, the installation of floodlights at Dunbar Tennis Centre was recently completed. There were various challenges that were overcome along the way, but on Friday the 25th of October the centre held the official ‘switch on’. Despite the wet conditions on the evening, spirits weren’t dampened as those in attendance enjoyed a ‘Hog Roast’ and other refreshments while there was also an opportunity to get out and play under the lights. As mentioned it has taken a huge collective effort from and all those involved should be very proud of what they have achieved. A special mention however must go to Wendy Nicholson and Tracey Drysdale, not only for their hard work and time spent on the project but for their ongoing contribution to Tennis in Dunbar.

The centre has Vantage running Adult and Junior coaching programmes and provides a consistent flow of players to East Lothian Tennis Development Squad. It also plays a vital role as a venue for the ever evolving East Lothian Open. The floodlights will allow sustainability and the opportunity to develop what is already in place while also opening the centre up to a range of new possibilities.

Once again, a huge well done to everyone involved and hopefully now you will be able to find some time to enjoy tennis under the lights.

Dunbar Tennis Centre can also be found on Facebook & Twitter
