Rock your socks for World Downs Syndrome Day

Haddington and Gullane Hockey Club rock their socks

Rock your socks for World Autism Day

Wednesday 21st March - World Down’s Syndrome Day! To mark the occasion, Haddington Juniors and Gullane Hockey Club have been rocking round the hockey pitch with odd socks. Team spirits amongst the kids were high and everyone joined in wearing bright or odd socks.Coaches included. We have come a long way to understanding autism in our sporting community but there’s still so much to be done. You might ask yourself why socks? Why socks? Well, because chromosomes look like socks and people with Down’s syndrome have an extra chromosome! “Lots of Socks” is acknowledged around the world as being associated with Down’s syndrome.
