Scotland success for hockey Pais athletes

Two Pais athletes get selected for Scotland U15 squads

Pais scotland

Last month two hockey PAiS athletes (Performance Athletes in School) Iona Syme from North Berwick High and Rory Steedman from Musselburgh Grammar, were selected to into the U15 and U16 Scotland squads.

This is a fantastic achievement for Iona and Rory who have been in the PAiS programme for the last couple of years, prior to which they were in the East Lothian U12 development squads. Iona has played club hockey with Gullane Hockey Club for the last five years, and plays in the 2nd year team at North Berwick High School. Rory does not play too much school hockey but has played hockey with Meadowmill Hockey Club up until Primary 7, before moving into Cala and then Inverleith.

Pais coach, David Guy and Hockey Development Officer, Susie Walker are very very proud of both players. “They have worked so hard since being in the programme and now all their efforts are paying off.  An inspiration to many.”
