Sharon Humble from Dunbar Amateur Swimming Club has received one of our first ever Volunteering Spotlight Award
Active East Lothian have launched a brand new Spotlight Award which is looking to highlight those individuals who commit their time and efforts to the local sport and physical activity, whether it be Volunteering within a club or working with local schools.
The first winner of our brand new awards is Sharon Humble of Dunbar Amateur Swimming Club Sharon is the Head Coach of the Swim Club who consistently demonstrates her commitment to the club through her passion for the sport and the multiple hours she puts in each week to ensure the swim sessions run as smoothly as possible. She is always willing to do more than her fair share of coaching and even covers swim sessions for the other coaches to ensure no child misses out on their sessions.
This has proved no mean feat over the last 12 months as she ran the swim sessions with the help of just one other coach for the most part of the year. Although her own children don't swim at the club she is absolutely committed to being there, to help each and every one of the other children within the club.
Sharon was nominated by Nicola Maxwell, who is the Chairperson of the Swim club. She had this to say about Sharon;
‘‘Sharon has an incredible energy and passion that is highly infectious! She is sports daft - often cycling to swim sessions at Dunbar from her home in Stenton. She manages to do all of this whilst balancing the demands of a full-time job, coaching disabled swimmers at another East Lothian club and looking after her young family!’’
Everyone at Active East Lothian would like to congratulate Sharon on winning this award and also for the incredible commitment she has shown to sport and physical activity over the years.
