Active Schools at Knox Academy offer a wide and varied extra-curricular programme involving activities before, during and after school, meaning there’s every reason to getting involved.

School clubs are run by a mixture of volunteers including staff, parents, coaches and development officers, and thanks to the formation of the Community Sport Hub, Knox has expanded the number of clubs it has linked with recently with a view to increasing participation in certain sports both within the school and the wider Haddington community.

As well as running teams in football, rugby, hockey, basketball and badminton, the school has also linked with local clubs such as Haddington Table Tennis Club, Tyne District Squash Club, and Dave Clark Tae Kwon Do. The school also offers trampolining classes run by City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club, and were announced as one of only 30 schools in Scotland to be awarded “School of Rugby”status, leading to additional funding from the SRU and additional curricular time to develop rugby.

If none of the above floats your particular boat, the school also has a diverse Outdoor Education Programme offering opportunities to take part in adventurous outdoor activities in all years, including a targeted group for girls.

There is no doubt there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in school sport at Knox Academy!
