New Order of Merit format launched at Longniddry Golf Club
The first event in the brand new East Lothian Secondary School Golf Order of Merit was played at Longniddry on Friday the 28thof September. Conditions weren’t ideal, cold and windy, and it was a race against the dwindling light but there was a strong entry of 22 players representing all 6 East Lothian High Schools.
Congratulations to Callum Wilson of Preston Lodge High School who won the Scratch Division with 27 points, beating Jack Valentine of Musseburgh Grammar on the better inward half. Congratulations also to James Smith of North Berwick High School who won the Handicap Division with 35 points. The Team Division was won by Musselburgh Grammar with 91 stableford points. Well done all.

The new format has replaced the previous Secondary League format and will be played over 4 events. Players can enter individually and there are 3 competition divisions - Individual Scratch, Individual Handicap and Team (3 net scores count to team total). The format is stableford
and each event will count towards their handicap so will be an opportunity for players to get another card in.
Forthcoming Secondary Golf Order of Merit events:
Fri 15th March 2013 - Gullane 2
Friday 12th April 2013 - Craigielaw GC
To enter please contact your School Sports Coordinator, Mr Parker (Musselburgh Grammar pupils), Ian Sellwood (PL Pupils) or Kate Green.
