Active Schools @ Preston Lodge High School

Preston lodge High School has offered lots of different sports and physical activities over the last few years, from Archery to Weightlifting, and most things in between.

We encourage our pupils to try new and as varied activities as possible.

We aim to provide lots of opportunities to make new friends and different experiences.

With strong links with local sports clubs such as the Preston Lodge Hockey and Rugby club, Tranent & Preston Village Cricket Club, the Mercat Gait Centre and not to mention with East Lothian Council Sports Development.
We work closely with the Prestonpans Community Sports Hub as it establishes itself.

We believe that everyone should be able to participate and enjoy sport and physical activity whoever they are and whatever their background.

We are always looking to expand our range of activities, and as such are keen to meet with new volunteers, coaches and clubs.
By working together, we hope to provide more opportunities for more of our local pupils.

As our Activity Programme is put together, you can view it by clicking HERE

The new 2021/22 Term 3 Programme will be added soon.

We will update the activites available on the BOOKING LIVE page as more and more activities come online

We have vacancies in a number of coaching and supervisory roles. Any parent, carer or Senior Pupil able to volunteer an hour a week would be very much welcomed.  Training & Support provided in every role.

Please contact the Active Schools Co-ordinator listed above to discuss.

At Active Schools we are always looking to promote opportunities for our Volunteers and Coaches to access training courses.

You can now find the most up to date training information from our Partners & Governing Bodies at the Training For All Page

Reducing Finance as a Barrier to Sport & Physical Activity

Cost should never stop your child participating in sport and physical activity. If you are worried or concerned about your ability to cover the cost related to any activity your child would like to take part in, please contact the Active Schools Co-ordinator listed above to discuss in complete confidence. Any assistance is provided confidentially so that it is not obvious to other individuals that your child is receiving this support.

Active Schools Future Leaders

The Active Schools Future Leaders Programme aims to teach leadership skills to Young People across East Lothian and build the foundations of a leadership pathway through school and beyond.

Your Active Schools Coordinator will be your mentor and support you throughout your leadership journey.

The Programme is designed to develop transferable skills for young leaders and enable other children to be more active and participate in a variety of fun games and activities.

The Future Leaders Booklet at the foot of this page provides a basic framework for the Future Leaders Programme, however there is flexibility for each young person to adapt and tailor the journey with their Active Schools Coordinator as required.

We hope to tailor opportunities for children from Primary 4, throughout their time at primary and secondary school and beyond.

For more information please contact the Active Schools Co-ordinator listed above.

East Lothian Active Schools is jointly funded by East Lothian Council and sportscotland

East Lothian Kit Stop

The East Lothian Kit Stop is an East Lothian based sports recycling programme run by Active Schools.
This programme collects new/no longer used sports equipment and clothing and redistributes it back into our local communities.
With the aim to help support more children and young people in getting more active whilst reducing waste and encouraging a more sustainable East Lothian.
