The club was founded in 1968 when a number of boat owners and other interested parties met with the Council to explore the possibility of starting a boating club. The club was officially started on 30th July 1968 and continues to this day.

Recently has seen a resurgence of interest in the club and the new committee has overseen an ambitious programme of refurbishment of the clubhouse and facilities and organised a calendar of activities in colaboration with the Royal Yachting Association and East Lothian Council.

The aim of the Club is to "Promote and facilitiate the all aspects of watersports" and membership is open to all.

The club boasts a modest clubhouse with a newly refurbished galley and changing facilities. The Clubhouse is open most weekends and visitors are always welcome.

As well as the Clubhouse the Club has a boatyard with space for fifty boats and power and water facilities. There is currently a waiting list for spaces at the yard.
