UKCC Level 2 Coaching Course pilots in East Lothian
The new format UKCC level 2 Coaching Course is being piloted in East Lothian with 12 spaces available for coaches.
The course is run over 3 weekends is March, April and May
This qualification is for teachers with a Level 1 coaching award who are looking to further their knowledge in swimming coaching. Learners will be able to plan and deliver training plans within the context of macro cycles, to swimmers who are at a competitive level. Learners will also gain an insight into principles of coaching and sport science.
The Level 2 Certificate for Coaching Swimming sits as the second formally assessed qualification on the coaching qualifications pathway. Once qualified the holder of the Level 2 Certificate for Coaching Swimming is able to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of six consecutive sessions within the context of a macro cycle prepared by a senior/licensed coach.
This qualification will provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and techniques of coaching and enable the learner to effectively plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate theory and practical swimming sessions. Achievement of this qualification will provide the learner with a qualification which is recognised as the minimum standard, enabling the learner to coach swimming sessions independently
