7 Month Cycle To Join SFA Coaching Pathway

Jungyu Lee from South Korea cycled for 250 days to join Scottish FA Coach Education courses and begin his own coaching journey.

South Korea Coach 1

The incredible journey took June through China, Mongolia, Russia, Eastern Europe, Germany and Holland before arriving in the UK. He stopped off at many football clubs along the way to see training sessions and matches to learn from the professionals at some of the worlds top clubs.

Once he arrived in the UK he very quickly made the journey to Liverpool to see his heroes at his beloved Liverpool FC, at one point it looked like he might miss out on the opportunity to see them play live as the games were sold out but thankfully the club became aware of his story and very kindly offered him a ticket for the Liverpool v Tottenham match at Anfield.

From there he got in touch with the Football Development Officer in East Lothian to join the Scottish FA Coach Education courses held in February at Meadowmill where he gained both his Development Activities Level 1.1 and Coaching Youth Footballers 13+ Level 1.2 qualifications.

June will now embark on the relatively short cycle from East Lothian to Irvine to complete his Level 1.3 course next month and then hopefully stay here to attend the 5 day C Licence course.

As a gesture of goodwill we have offered June tickets to see the Scotland National A squad playing next month in the upcoming international fixtures.

A fascinating story of one man's journey to achieve his football dreams.
