North Berwick's Elizabeth Musgrove wins Gold at the Scottish Schools Athletics Association Championships.
A total of nine athletes made the journey to Glasgow’s new impressive Emirates Arena on Thursday 07 February for the Scottish Schools Athletics Association Indoor Championships, and it was Elizabeth Musgrove who impressed all at the Emirates Arena.
Elizabeth is from North Berwick High Schools is a member of Haddington East Lothian Pacemakers and a part of the East Lothian Performance Athletes in Schools programme (PAiS). Starting the day with a win in her heat of the 300-meters Over-16 Girls event, Elizabeth progressed to the final with an opportunity to come home with a medal. In the final of the 300-meters and showing great strength and tactics Elizabeth pulled to the front of the race at the final bend, winning in a new personal best time of 42.47s.
Jake Roulstone was unfortunate to miss out on a medal in the Under-16 Boys 400m, finishing fourth in a very close race. Jake, representing North Berwick High School, had an excellent run in the heats to run a new indoor personal best of 54.31s, but in the final was out pipped in the final few strides – missing out on a medal by 0.16s. Jake then went onto run another personal best, this time in the 200m.
There were also noteworthy performances from Katie Boston (North Berwick HS) who finished 11th in the Under-16 Girls Shot Putt. Gemma Bolton (Dunbar Grammar) in the Over-16 Girls competition finished 5th in both heats of the 60-meters (8.63) and the 200-meters (28.73), in the High Jump she finished 8th with a clearance of 1m45. Euan Miles (North Berwick HS) ran 8.05s in his heat of the Over-16 Boys 60m and recorded 4m08 in the long jump. Emily Wilson-Beales (Dunbar Grammar) ran a new personal best in the heat of the 800m. Imogen Wilson (Dunbar Grammar) progressed to the semi-finals of the 300m with a best time of 46.86, she also ran 8.83 in the 60-meter and jumped 4m25 in the long jump in the Under-16 Girls age-group. Jordan Robbins in the U16-Boys category (Dunbar Grammar) progressed to the semi-final of the 200m with a best time of 29.38s and also recorded a time of 8.99 in the heats of the 60meters. Cameron Steven (Dunbar Grammar) ran 62.74s in the Under-16 boys 400m and 2:20.77 in the 800m.
