15 year old Matthew Knox makes his first team debut for Livingston during the pre season schedule.
Matthew who attends Preston Lodge HS was named as a substitute for the first pre season friendly game against Stenhousemuir at Ochilview and made his bow during the second half in a comfortable 3-0 victory for the Lions.
The dream continued for Matthew when he made his second first team appearance in the glamour friendly against Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad who are managed by former Manchester Utd manager David Moyes again he came off the bench during the second half this time in a very respectable 1-0 defeat.
Matthew who earlier this year had to drop out of the PAiS programme due to extra training commitments with Livingston has clearly been impressing manager Mark Burchill after being invited into train with the first team at the end of school term and during the summer holidays.
Burchill was quoted after the Real Sociedad game as saying ‘It’s a great learning experience especially for guys like Matthew Knox who is only 15, if they can take bits from Real Sociedad and how they play and try to take that into their own game’.
A huge well done to Matthew and hopefully he continues to keep up the good work.
