Primary Athletics 2025

Another fantastic event!

Primary Athletics Competition 2025

Cheers, laughter, and the sound of pounding feet filled the air on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd May 2025 at the annual East Lothian Primary School Athletics Competition where we had 31 schools competing across the 2 days. The event, held at Meadowmill Athletics Arena, brought together students from p5-7 for a day of sportsmanship, fun, and impressive athletic performances.

With the sun shining brightly and a gentle breeze keeping temperatures pleasant, the atmosphere was perfect for a day of outdoor events. Pupils competed in a wide range of races and field events, including sprints, relays, long jump, high jump, cricket ball throw and even a tug of war.

The competition was divided into four sections—mini school, small school, medium school and large school, each cheering passionately for their each other throughout the day. Staff and parents also got in on the excitement, volunteering as timekeepers, scorers, and enthusiastic spectators.

Law took home the large school trophy, Gullane were the winners of the medium school trophy, Longniddry the small school trophy and Pencaitland the mini school trophy.  After a day of strong performances and great teamwork, every student should have left with a sense of achievement.

Well done to all the students, staff, and families who made the day such a success!

A huge thank you to Enjoy Leisure, Active Schools and the Primary PE team for all their efforts which made the days possible.

After the presentation ceremony one of the teachers praised all participants: “Today wasn’t just about winning. It was about trying your best, supporting your friends, and having a great time together. You’ve all made us very proud.”
