East Lothian has a number of Walking Football sessions taking place weekly across the local authority and a great place for the older community to be more active.
The benefits to older members of the community are incredible as, apart from the enjoyment of getting the opportunity of playing football again in their later years.
A recent survey of walking footballers produced the following exceptional results which mirrors Walking Football Scotland's national outcomes:

âš½ï¸ 78% now play twice a week
âš½ï¸ 87% improved their balance and flexibility
âš½ï¸ 95% improved their general fitness levels
âš½ï¸ 100% reported improved mental wellbeing, increased friendships and greater social activity
Walking Football is a great "low intensity" session for beginners, those looking to lose some weight and those rehabilitating from illness and injury etc so dust down the old boots or maybe it’s an excuse to buy a new pair from your local sports shop and get along to the many sessions happening around East Lothian.
