Active Schools Gymnastics proves to be a hit in Tranent!

Many children from Active Schools Gymnastics classes in Tranent attend the 2013 East Lothian Annual Gymnastics Competition.

Tranent Gymnastics

Many of the children who attend the Tranent Active Schools Gymnastics classes were invited to take part in the East Lothian Annual Gymnastics Competition 2013. These Active Schools have only been running since October 2012, but Head Coach Leanne Lough believed many of the children could compete on a District level.

Leanne prediction was correct, as 12 participants from throughout the Tranent Cluster attend the event on Sunday the 24th of March at Meadowmill Sports Centre.

The event was split into 2 disciplines, “Floor” and the “Vault”, with both of these disciplines being given a score by the judges, which were then combined to give an overall score.

The shining star of the Tranent Cluster was Sean Craigmile (Windygoul Primary School) who was the overall winner of the Level 1 class, for children ages between Primary 4 – 6. A fantastic joint 1st place in the Vault with a score of 13.7 and a respectable score of 11.9on the Floor, earned him an overall score of 25.6 and the 1st place medal.

Another success was in the older, Level 2 category, which is for competitors aged between P7 and S2. Holly Mannix (St Martins Primary) produced a brilliant performance in the Floor routine, to give her a 1st place in the discipline. Unfortunately she could only muster a 6th place in the Vault, but this secured her a fantastic 5th place overall.

A massive well done to Sean and Holly from everyone at Active Schools.

Also a well done to all the other competitors from Active Schools who were;

Windygoul Primary  – Eve Craigmile, Jennifer Binnie and Sophie Legge

Sandersons Wynd Primary – Esme Balfour, Abigail Dall and Emma Robertson

Elphinstone Primary – Jessica Stable

Pencaitland Primary - Rebecca Tait and Cameron De Vos

Let us hope 2014 is as much of a success as 2013!!
