Clubgolf 2 Ball Fousomes at Musselburgh Old Course

26 East Lothian juniors compete in the clubgolf 2 Ball Foursomes at Musselburgh Old Course

clubgolf 2 Ball Foursomes Non Handicap

The clubgolf East Lothian 2 Ball Foursomes was held at Musselburgh Old Course on Thursday 9th August 2012.  The competition was played over 9 holes and the conditions were ideal with the sun shining and no wind making for a very enjoyable round.  Entrants represented clubs from across East Lothian including Haddington, Gullane, Musselburgh Old, Musselburgh, North Berwick, The Glen, Tantallon and Longniddry.

For many of the players this was the first time they had played on Musselburgh Old which was in great condition and surprised players as a testing 9 holer.   It was also the first time many had played the format of 2 Ball Foursomes which requires team work, strategy and course management.

In the Handicap Division local knowledge paid off for Musselburgh Old junior members  Zac Jones and Cameron Brown, who secured 1st place in the handicap division with a net 31.5.  Coming in a very close second was Musselburgh Golf Club members Ryan Jeffrey and Lewis Hannah who shot a net 33.5, beating their fellow club members Callum McCabe and Daniel Gailes into 3rd by 0.5.

In the Silver/Non-handicap division the compeition was tight with a shot seperating 1st to 5th so every putt really did count!  Ruaridh McKenzie and Cameron Spencer both of North Berwick proved a very strong pairing securing the top spot with a fantastci 41. Mikey Shephard (The Glen) and Archie Wilson (Gullane) came in a very close 2nd with 42, a valiant effort by these boys who are are just going into P5 and P4 respectively.  All of these junior boys are ones to watch in the future!
