Want to know more about Community Asset Transfer? If you're part of a community group interested in exploring what is involved in taking on a community asset (halls, community centres, growing spaces etc) through community asset transfer, this is definitely for you. It will help you to work out whether the building or space you are thinking about is a viable community asset.
The course covers:
- A brief outline of the Community Empowerment Act and the new rights that community groups have to request to lease, own or manage publicly owned assets, and what your group structure needs to look like
- The key questions you need to ask yourselves before taking on an asset – what is the need, how do we know, do we need an asset to deliver, who is going to do it and where is the money coming from? Including examples from across Scotland of successful community projects.
- What are the steps you need to take to take on an asset - what does the asset transfer journey looks like
- •How to get started and where to get help and support, including specific grant funds.
