East Lothian well represented in the current Scotland U18 Squad in preparation for International competition
The Scotland U18’s are currently preparing for their 6 Nations Tournament which takes place down South in April. As part of the preparation they have been holding training camps since December and are looking to finalise their squad for some friendlies before the U18 6 Nations tournament. East Lothian has had a strong group of players in this age group and was well represented in the East Lothian & Borders Regional Academy squad that played in the Regional Academy Championships over the summer.
This has now transferred to the national U18 squad where no less than 7 players from East Lothian have been training with the National U18 squad. Eck Allan (North Berwick), James Hunter, Cameron Scott, Scott Clark (all Preston Lodge) and Van Kagori (Ross High) are all current Pais athletes in the squad. Scot King (Preston Lodge) has recently moved to the Edinburgh Regional Fosroc Academy to further his rugby and is also included in the squad. Nathan Sweeney (Loretto & North Berwick) is also in the squad after recovering from a long term groin injury. All these players played together in the East Lothian U15’s and U17’s squad before progressing on to Regional Academy teams and now into the National set up.
While there is still a lot of work to be done to make the final tournament squad, they are continuously working hard to improve and develop their game and put themselves in the frame for selection.
