Preston Lodge win East Midlothian Football
Preston Lodge High School S1 team played their first ever matches on Friday 26 April at Dalkeith Campus School.
The end of seasons S1 11-a-side tournament was the first time the boys had played together as a team. The group draw seen Preston Lodge drawn against Ross High and Lasswade.
In the first match the boys played Ross High. The match was a good game and was decided by a shot from matthew Knox which the goalkeeper saved but only landed at the feet on James Morgan who smashed home the winner.
The team had a rest before they played Lasswade. This game had four seasons in twenty minutes. Lasswade to the lead but good fight back and two excellent finishes from James Morgan saw Preston Lodge progress to the final.
The final was delayed due to the heavy down pur of hailstones. The final was between Dalkeith and Preston Lodge. Dalkeith were favorites for the final after scoring six goals in two matches. However Preston Lodge started well with great play from Daniel and Jordan Purves. The match started to go Preston Lodge's way when Harvey Cunningham played a great ball wide to Kieran Jack who had been outstanding on the wing all day. A great delivery from Kieran saw James Morgan score to make it 1-0. Preston Lodge sealed it late on with Ben Muir scoring from a corner to win the Charlie Wood trophy.
Congratulations to the boys for all their hardwork throughout the tournament
