Prestonpans Judo Festival

Prestonpans P5s get the opportunity to try out a range of different Judo skills

Prestonpans Judo Festival

Earlier in the year at Meadowmill Sports Centre nearly 150 Primary 5 children from the Preston Lodge feeder schools participated in a Judo Festival. The Judo festival, a joint venture with Active Schools and Destination Judo, allowed the children the opportunity to try out a range of different Judo skills and techniques through a variety of fun games and activities. All of the children were given a Judo suit to wear throughout the festival which further increased the fantastic experience.

The festival was a great success, with fantastic feedback from all participants and teachers alike. The overall aim of the festival was to give the children the chance to experience Judo and will hopefully lead some of the children to giving the local Judo club a go.

The Destination Judo instructors were excellent as always, creating a great atmosphere via their instructing and encouraging of the children throughout the 2 hour festival. Active Schools would like to thank Destination Judo for giving all Preston Lodge feeder schools a free Judo taster, as well as giving for free their time at the festival, and also giving all the children who attended a free magazine and offer of a free Judo suit for any who signed up to the local club.
