Primary Schools Regional Athletics Championships

2018 Regional Athletics Championships for Primary Schools across the region.

Athletes from 31 primary schools went head to head on the track and on the field with running, jumping and On a beautifully sunny Thursday 24^th and Friday 25^th May, Meadowmill Athletics Arena hosted the throwing events.

Overall results were:

Small Small Schools         :               1^st Dirleton, 2^nd West Barns, 3^rd Saltoun

Big Small School                                1^st St Mary’s, 2^nd Pencaitland, 3^rd                Loretto RC

Small Big School                                1^st Stoneyhill, 2^nd East Linton, 3^rd St Martins

Big Big School                                    1^st Dunbar, 2^nd Law, 3^rd King’s Meadow

A massive well done to all the athletes who participated and made the event so much fun!

Medals and Trophies were presented by Olympic and World Medallist Maria Lyle and East Lothian PE Lead Officer Marion Barclay, who is sadly leaving us at the end of this term.

Marion has worked for East Lothian Council Education Department for over 30 years. There isn’t a school in the region that she hasn’t been involved with at some time.  She has inspired and enthused not just the children in the schools and early year’s settings, but also the staff and will be missed by everyone who has been touched by her passion for physical activity and education.
