East Lothian badminton players won numerous titles at the recent U14 and U16 Scottish Schools Age group doubles event held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Centre in Musselburgh.
In the U14 age group East Lothian players dominated the finals with Ewan Mathieson (Aberlady) and James Morgan (Longniddry) winning the boys doubles title against John Arbuckle (North Berwick) and Alastair Campbell (Dunbar) with James Guickan and Ross Mcfarlane (North Berwick) also finishing in a creditable 3 / 4 position.
In the U14 girls doubles Musselburgh’s U13 player Rachel Cameron just lost out in the final with partner Maria Leith from Stonehaven but had a fine win in the mixed doubles with Edinburgh’s Michael Farnood against runners up Ewan Mathieson and Eilidh Mitchell (North East) and James Morgan and Edinburgh’s Clare Rogers also reached the semi final stages.
In the U16 girls doubles Longniddry’s Eloise Morris teamed up with Linsey Young (Kelso) to win the title against Sarah Brogan (Longniddry) and Lanarkshire’s Olivia Quinn.
In the U16 mixed doubles Sarah Brogan went one step further and took the title with partner James Laing (Kirknewton)
In the U16 Boys doubles Alex Burnett (Longniddry) and Jason Cameron (Musselburgh) also performed well to finish in the 3 / 4 position.
