Congratulations Peter on your win!
Peter has been volunteering with Active Schools for over 2 years. He coaches weekly basketball sessions (A primary 3 to 7 class and Preston Lodge senior basketball team). The primary session regularly has upwards of 20 children and would probably not run if it was not for Peter. The senior team has 16 pupils and reached the semi-finals (2016-17) and quarter finals (2017-18) of the Scottish Plate. Peter is not local to the area travelling from Edinburgh at his own expense, greatly increasing the time he gives to running the class.
Peter has also taken on the responsibility of mentoring some senior pupils who help with the primary basketball sessions and more recently a parent volunteer who has also been helping. Peters volunteering enables Active Schools to offer basketball for free to the participants in alignment with many East Lothian Council and SportsScotland policies.
