Introduction to Rugby/Football/Hockey Coaching

An introduction to coaching for Primary staff including class teachers, support staff, primary PE and all types of volunteers

Benefits of Attending

Develop and up-skill knowledge of coaching specific sports to primary age pupils, including rules of the game. Observe how to coach movement / spacial awareness /hand-eye co-ordination through fun interactive sessions.

Receive a coaching booklet with progressive session plans to follow when coaching in your context.

Outline Programme:

• Each sport will run two identical sessions one after another.  Attendees to attend 2 of the 3 sports available
• Learn the basic rules of Rugby/Football/Hockey for primary aged players
• Learn the fundamental skills for each sport
• Learn how to coach each sport in fun/interactive sessions
• Observation of tutors coaching a group of children, learning games and drills that can be used in school sessions
• Discussion of coaching resource provided by each sport for attendees
• Interaction of attendees and how sessions could be applied in their coaching context
• Outline of coaching support available to school staff and sport structures/pathways for each sport in East Lothian

Course attendees will not be required to participate in the sport activity at this course.

We have aranged for a group of children to attend and this course will be an observation format.
