Rachel Cameron from Musselburgh and Dunbar Grammar pupil Alastair Campbell were both named this week in the Scotland squad for the Under 17 European Badminton Championships being held in Prague from 21st – 29th November 2017.

The next generation of Scottish badminton stars will travel to the Czech Republic with high hopes of success with half of the squad having already won medals at European level.

Rachel Cameron was one of these players when she won a bronze medal with Rachel Sugden in the U15 European Championships.

The team event will run from 21-25 November in which Scotland have been named as one of the joint 5/8 seeds among a record entry of 37 nations. The Individual Championships will follow the team event from 25-29 November.

East Lothian Badminton Development Officer Christine Black said ‘she was delighted that both Rachel and Alastair had been selected for the inaugural event having both trained extremely hard and are both really good role models for the younger East Lothian players.’
