Greg McBeth is crowned Februarys Volunteer of the month for his tireless efforts coaching Ross High School Football Squads

RossFootball

This week Active East Lothian’s Volunteer of the Month Award for February 2016 was awarded to Greg McBeth who is a Football Coach at Ross High School. Despite Greg working full-time he manages to give up sometimes up to 4 hours a week to coach school football teams throughout the academic year, of which he has continued to do so for a number of years. At present he is coaching the Under 16’s squad and travels with them to and from matches each week.

Greg became involved with the schools teams as he is a parent of 2 children at the school and felt he could give back to the school to allow his and other children the chance to represent the school on a weekly basis through the football squad.

Mark Urwin, who is Ross High Schools Sports and Physical Activity Co-ordinator said “Greg’s hard work and determination with the group of boys he coaches is to be admired. Come wind, rain or shine he is there taking the team working the team around his already busy work schedule and family life.”

Parent Volunteers are vital to school sport and Greg is a great example of how parents can get involved with their school and provide the children within their community the opportunity to become and keep physically active. Greg has become a valuable asset to Ross High School because of his efforts with the school football teams and a very worthy winner of Volunteer of the Month.

Other Volunteers who were nominated this month for their hard work and efforts were;

James Allen, Cameron McPherson, Dylan Gilles- Dunbar Primary Basketball Coaches

Chris Hargreaves – Knox Academy Hockey Coach

Roisin Kelly, Anna Pate, Chloe Duffy – Knox Academy Primary Multi Sports Team

Tyler Connachan – Tranent Primary Basketball Coach

Armando Martie – Musselburgh Primary Basketball Coach
