Meadowmill Sports Centre hosts Mid and East Lothian Secondary Schools Badminton Championships

Mid and East Championships

Pupils travelled from all over the county to compete in the Mid and East Secondary Schools Badminton Championships held recently at Meadowmill Sports Centre.

East Lothian Schools dominated the event with Amanda Martin from Knox Academy winning all three U14 titles in girls singles, girls doubles with Rachel Broadley and mixed doubles with Niall Holman.

In the U14 Boys Singles Dunbar Grammar pupil Gregor Ronan won the gold medal whilst Euan Campbell and Joseph Kellock also both Dunbar pupils took the boys doubles title.

In the U16 age group Alastair Campbell (Dunabr Grammar) won the boys singles and North Berwick duo Ross Mcfarlane and James Guickan won the boys doubles.

Following this event selection will now take place for pupils to represent Mid & East Lothian Schools at the Scottish Schools National Championships which will be held on the 12th and 13th March at the Peak in Stirling.
