North Berwick S1 Hockey Champs

North Berwick take top spot at S1 Inter school tournament

S1 hockey tournament

The  annual secondary school S1 Hockey Tournament took place at the end of February here at Meadowmill. Great to see two teams from North Berwick, two from Knox and one from Ross High, hopefully Dunbar, Musselburgh and Preston Lodge will make it next year.

The afternoon saw some very exciting hockey with all players giving the games 100%, and more importantly having a great time. It was encouraging to see such strong displays of hockey given some of the girls have only been playing regular hockey since moving up to High School last year. Going in to their last game, North Berwick and Ross High were neck neck in points. A very exciting game indeed, North Berwick stole the show with a 3-0 defeat over a strong Ross High Team.

Congratulations to North Berwick, who were crowned 2018 S1 cup Winners.

A very big thank you to Claire Parry from North Berwick, Steve Wands and Suzanne Laing from Knox for supporting and coaching on the day. Suzanne and Steve stepped pitch side to join in with the Knox head to head game at the end - a lot of fun! Thanks too to Gary Wright and Knox pupil and Scotland U14 goalie, Charlie Gates, for umpiring.

And now to Ross High. The Ross High Girls team came with three 5th Year Pupils who managed and coached the girls on the day. Marianne Scott, Georgia Farrell and Katy Walsh - a huge well done - each one of you showed enthusiasm and dedication to the team. The three girls play in the 1st X1 School team and Ross High Ladies and really are a credit to both. Great ambassadors for the school and the sport. Well done!
