Scotland Rugby Debut for Ex North Berwick HS and Pais Athlete on Summer Tour

Lewis Carmichael has made his senior international test debut for Scotland on their summer tour to Canada and USA.

Lewis Carmichael

Lewis Carmichael becomes the first rugby player to progress through the PAIS programme in East Lothian onto international senior honours. He currently plays for Edinburgh Rugby and was selected to tour with Scotland on their summer tour of North America. Lewis made his debut off the bench against Canada which turned out to be a convincing win for Scotland. According to Opta stats, he beat 6 defenders in his cameo off the bench which was the most by any international player that weekend and the most by a tier 1 nation substitute since George North played off the bench for Wales in 2011, beating 9 defenders.

Lewis was then selected to start the following game against the USA this past weekend. Although Scotland lost the game 30-29, Lewis put in a solid performance and has remained with the squad for their final tour game which is a test match against Argentina in Argentina.

It’s great to see one of our own make it right to the top of the game and there has been a real buzz around North Berwick Rugby with Lewis doing so well. I’m sure we will have so more plaeyrs following in his footsteps with a number of our young players representing Scotland at U16. U17, U18 and U20 level this season.
