Spotlight Volunteer Award Win For Karly Conn

Congratulations Karly On Your Award!

Karly is an inspiring and hardworking individual. She has committed her whole junior school life to sporting activities such as rugby, fitness and hockey and in her senior phase has taken on an abundance of leadership roles. She started off with a leading girl’s fitness club in school where she is taking full lead on weekly sessions, equipment and organisation.

On the back of this success she took the initiative to start a staff fitness club to spread health and wellbeing further afield. Simultaneously, she has started a new girl’s fitness club at Dunbar Primary School which has over 30 pupils attending and growing. It does not stop there, she also helps lead girls rugby on Thursdays and has recently been scouted to volunteer at Platinum Performance Centre twice a week to help with the Performance Development Program.

Moreover, she gives up her study periods to help girls from fitness club that she thinks would benefit from extra support in certain subjects. She has taken the initiative to do this by herself with a real credit to someone of her age.

On top of these hours of volunteering she also manages to hold down a part time job, study for her Higher and Advanced Highers, continue to play rugby and have a social life. There is no doubt that Karly is inspiring a younger generation of female athletes and showing them what a positive role model looks like. Karly is extremely deserving of this award as a recognition of her hard work.
