Scottish Rugby u/15 Player Development Hubs (PDH) launching in East Lothian

Rugby Development Hubs

During the February School holidays, u/15 rugby players from all over East Lothian will converge on Meadowmill for the first sessions of the new rugby pathway programme led by Scottish Rugby.

The PDH programme formally known as the ‘early talent ID programme’ will look to develop player’s skills and understanding of the game through specialist coaching in a fun environment. The session’s delivery will be linked to the Scottish Rugby technical blueprint with the core theme revolving around developing ‘Rugby Speed’.

The 2 hubs that are based at Meadowmill will train between February and March and they will play 2 games against the 2 Borders hubs. The first game on the 11th March will take place in the Borders with the return fixture being played on the 25th March at Meadowmill.

This is an exciting and first opportunity for this age group to compete in regional programmes where some players will be selected for the FOSROC u/16 academy programme which takes place in the summer. This will be the start of the journey for many who have aspirations to play national age-grade and professional rugby.

Ultimately success of the programme will be seeing all players that participate in the Player Development Hub’s leave a better and more rounded player to the one that arrived at the first session. Creating a fun, professional environment will hopefully support these players so that they can take all that they have learned back to their school & club teams and enhance rugby performance throughout East Lothian.
