The Power of Four

Tired and fighting stitches after the second straight game (left to right) Molly McHugh, Mhairi Cowan, Amy French, Corina Taggart

East Lothian’s Un 12 Girls Basketball team were in action this weekend in Basketball Scotland’s Regional Development Leagues.

East Lothian who are currently defending Champions of the East and Central RDL and finished second in The National Challenge are keen to capture glory once again.  However with a limited squad this season and player injuries, East Lothian could only field a team of four girls on Sunday which meant no subs for three full games. Not deterred by full squads of up to 10 players from City of Edinburgh Koolkats, West Lothian Wolves and Polonia Phoenix, the girls powered through the fatigue and stitches for three very impressive wins.

Rob Woodhead, Coach of the Un 12 girls said

he was very proud of the girls’ resilience and ability to maintain their focus.  One win from three would have been great against such big squads but three from three in such convincing fashion was amazing.

The team which were unbeaten last season and have lost only one game this year hope to retain their East and Central RDL trophy and go on to compete for a top four placing in the National Finals in May.

Game Results

City Of Edinburgh Koolkats  10 - 45
