TWO BADMINTON TITLES FOR RACHEL
Musselburgh Grammar’s Rachel Cameron dominated her age group by winning two titles at the North of Scotland U13 Badminton Championships held recently at the Aberdeen Sports Village. Rachel reached her first final in the girl’s singles against Maria Leith (Stonehaven) which she won comfortably 21/10 21/11 to win her first title.
Following the singles final both girls then teamed up together to win the doubles in 2 straight sets 21/10 21/4 against Ruth Flockhart and Eve O’Donnell (Beith).
Rachel reached her third final in the mixed doubles with Edinburgh’s Nairn Ross but just lost out in a close three set match to top seeds Josh McKay and Maria Leith (Stonehaven).
In the boys doubles Alastair Campbell (Dunbar) and James Guckian (North Berwick) seeded two had a tense but great match in the final to topple the top seeds Josh McKay and Kyle Middleton (Dundee) 25/23 21/19 to win the boys doubles title.
James Guckian also won the consolation ‘B’ singles beating Aiden Smith (Highland) 21/9 21/18.
