World class field ready for the The Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open

on Wed 12th to Sun 16th Aug 2020 at The Renaissance Club, East Lothian

2020 Scottish Ladies Golf Q&A

The Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open is set to go ahead on Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th August 2020, at The Renaissance Club with one of the strongest line-ups of the season.  The 144-player field also contains 7 scots bidding to claim a slice of the $1.5million prize fund.

@CarlyBooth and @julia_engstrom explain what it takes to try to Rule the Links at The Renaissance Club this week. Carly Booth,  the youngest-ever Scot to qualify for the Ladies European Tour and also the youngest ladies' club champion in Britain at the age of 11 at Dunblane New Golf Club will be in the field at The Renaissance Club on Scotland's Golf Coast East Lothian this week.  The event marks a return of professional women’s golf to Scotland for the first time since Europe’s remarkable triumph in the 2019 Solheim Cup last September.

When asked what she would have chosen to do if she hadn’t become a professional golfer, Carly said she would have undoubtedly been involved in sport, perhaps a gymnast, swimmer or even a race car driver!  Booth is famous not only for being one of Scotland’s best golfers but also for her back flips

Similarly to Carly, 19 year old Swede Julia Engstrom started playing golf at an early age with her family.  She credits her family and having lots of like minded supportive friends in golf with her success.  In 2016, at age 15, Engström became the youngest player to win the British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship, earning her starts at the 2016 U.S. Women's Open, and the 2016 Women's British Open.

As a made for TV event following close consultation and collaboration with the Scottish Government, Aberdeen Standard Investments, VisitScotland, the LPGA and the LET, fully adhering to internationally recognized COVID-19 protocol and subject to necessary formal approvals of athlete quarantine exemptions.  The field for the 2020 event is just as strong as previous years, with three of the world’s top ten players making the journey to Scotland – America’s Danielle Kang (No.2) Japan’s Nasa Hataoka,(No.5) and Australia’s Minjee Lee. (No.8). In total 34 countries will be represented in the field including Nigeria’s first-ever LET player, Georgia Oboh, as well as a number  of international stars who will be joining the tournament ‘bubble’ after travelling from the United States.
