The Annual Tranent Active Schools Dance Show took place at Ross High School on the 21st June 2013
The annual Tranent Active Schools Dance Show took place on the 21st of June at Ross High School with all the usual glitz and glamour associated with the event. The show as ever was run in an X Factor/Strictly Come Dancing style with judges providing feedback and scores out of 10 for every performance.
This year there were 2 judges who were, ex Active Schools Coordinator, Lesley Nicholson alongside one of Active Schools most experienced coaches, Jade Hall. Both judges were eager to give their opinions on some incredible dances routines from the 8 groups who were involved.
The show, hosted by Tranent Active Schools Coordinator, Adam Martin, involved groups of Street Dancers, Cheerleaders and even 1 group from Ross High School’s PE performance class.
The show itself is designed to give all the boys and girls who attend extra-curricular classes and clubs in the Tranent Cluster, a chance to show off their routines in front of all their friends and family as well as showing off their moves to all the other dancers. This year we had more dancers than ever before which is down to the hard work and effort being put in by the dancers, the coaches and Active Schools to provide these opportunities.
The show this year was treated to a special performance by Upbeat Street Dance’s senior crew who came along and showed all the budding street dances in the room, what they could become with an outstanding routine.
Down to the winners and for the first time ever after 5 attempts the crown was taken by a Street Dance group, notably the winning Primary 1, 2 and 3 age group who gave a fantastic display with some cool breakdancing moves to go along with them.
Well Done to everyone involved and we hope to see you all dancing again next year so that our next dance show will be bigger and better than ever before.
If you are not involved but want to start dancing, please contact your Active Schools Coordinator.
